How to wash your car after dust and rain

Assess what remains on the surface

Rain can leave dirt streaks and dried droplet marks on the body. It does not replace proper cleaning: before using a towel, inspect the roof, bonnet, lower doors and glass. Avoid dry wiping if grit or a thick dust layer is visible. Do not run a finger over a dirty body to test smoothness or write in the dust.

In Baku, assess washing needs after the actual trip and parking. If the car is dusty again, decide by the dirt present rather than the number of days since the last visit.

Prepare the car and location first

Let hot bodywork cool and choose shade if possible. Prepare clean accessories, suitable car shampoo and separate drying cloths. Check windows and sunroof are closed. Do not start unless you can rinse the product fully and finish drying.

Before visiting a wash, mention film, matte paint, recent repairs or ceramic coating. Your car’s and installed protection’s instructions outrank universal advice. If time is short, plan car care time to include preparation and final inspection, not just applying foam.

Remove loose dirt before touching the body

Start with a thorough pre-rinse using a suitable method. Ford manuals separate this from later washing: first remove dust and larger dirt with water. If using high pressure, follow the car and equipment manuals; bringing the nozzle closer should not become the response to every stain.

Use pre-wash products only on permitted surfaces with label dilution and dwell time. Do not let them dry. After rinsing, assess remaining dirt. For contact washing, use a clean mitt or other recommended accessory and clean it often. Keep wheel equipment separate from body equipment.

Streaks and individual spots need different solutions

After wet-road driving, the lower body may be dirtier than the roof. Do not spread that dirt across the car with one cloth. If stubborn spots or rough areas remain after a normal wash, show the provider and ask about cleaning. Tar remover, mineral-deposit remover and ordinary shampoo solve different problems and have different limits.

Do not apply household acid or solvent to an unknown spot. First determine whether it is contamination, product residue or a coating change. Check visibility through the windscreen separately; the car glass cleaning guide helps avoid using body products on unsuitable surfaces.

Finish with drying and a calm check

Dry an already clean car with a clean suitable towel without heavy pressure, or a method permitted by the coating manufacturer. If you discover dirt while drying, stop and clean that area again. A towel should not do a wash mitt’s job. Check mirrors, recesses and joints from which water may later run.

For future care, remember where dirt regularly remains rather than imposing a rigid calendar. Remove bird droppings and other unwanted local contaminants separately using suitable instructions instead of waiting for a full wash. When planning seasonal care in Baku, consider actual parking, routes and protective coating condition.
