Self-service car washes in Baku: prepare for your first visit
Check whether the format suits you
At a self-service wash, the driver does most of the work. Before going, ask how that specific bay works: programmes, staff available to explain them and where to finish care after leaving the washing area. Do not expect identical equipment and procedures everywhere.
Assess the task in advance. For a difficult stain, unknown coating or damaged paint, get specialist advice first. For your first visit, choose an ordinary exterior wash rather than trying to solve every car problem at once. Learn the format without rushing.
Read the terms before paying
Find the bay instructions and check how charging works. Payment may depend on time or programme; check the current rules on site. Ask when charging starts, whether you can pause a programme and what happens to unused funds. Check payment methods before putting the car in the work area.
First learn the switch layout and a safe hose position. Ask staff about unclear labels. Do not test an unfamiliar mode on the body: the consequences of the wrong choice can cost more than the time saved.
Prepare the car and accessories
Close windows, doors and sunroofs. Remove items that impede work and check your model’s washing instructions. Some cars need specific preparation for certain washing methods. For film, fresh paint or attached trim, follow their care instructions too.
Use clean accessories suitable for automotive surfaces for later drying. Do not put them on the bay floor. Check in advance whether your own cleaning products are allowed and where to dry the car without occupying the work area longer than permitted.
Follow the equipment instructions
Follow the operator’s programme sequence and product instructions. Do not mix products yourself or extend dwell time hoping for a stronger effect. Before using high pressure, check the permitted nozzle, mode and distance in the car and equipment instructions. There is no universally safe distance for every machine and coating.
Keep the jet moving. Do not use a dirt blaster on car paint: the Kärcher K 5 instructions exclude that mode for such surfaces. Car manufacturers also specify sensitive areas. More restrictions are in the safe pressure washing guide.
Do not finish at any cost
If equipment behaves unusually, a hose is damaged or stopping the programme is unclear, stop safely as instructed and contact staff. Never direct the jet at people or attempt to service the machine yourself. If strong wind prevents control of the spray, choose another time or a sheltered bay.
- Understand starting and stopping before paying
- Check that the mode suits your car
- Allow time for complete rinsing
- Move to a permitted area to finish care
Check the result and actual cost
After rinsing, inspect the car in good light. Do not dry-rub remaining stubborn dirt. If a stain needs separate treatment, identify it before choosing a method. Record the programmes used and cost to assess whether the format suits you. Compare the same scope with an ordinary wash as described in the full wash cost guide.
